Pull-offs on guitar
A pull-off is in a way the same as a hammer on, but instead of making a higher note that the picked note, you go lower.
To start learning to pull-off you'll put on finger on the 7th fret on the d string and a finger on the 5th fret d string. Now play the string as you normally would and as its ringing lift your finger from the 7th fret, But as you do it, tug down on the string so it make it ring, this could be tricky, but experiment with it and you'll learn what works best.. Doing this rite will cause the note your holding on the 5th fret to ring.
When you can both hammer-on and pull-off make sure you try challenging your self by combining the two, one after another, Below is an exercise you can practice to improve your skills.

More to look at:
- Try hammering-onto a note than pulling-off to the original note, try doing it as long as possibly without re-picking.
- Pay attention to the little things, like making sure you use the tips of your fingers instead of the pads. Stay cool; don’t get frustrated, its fun remember!
- Try listening out for hammer-ons and pull-offs when you’re listening to music, it will give you a good feel of were to put them when writing your own stuff.
